A yellow flame means incomplete combustion. If the burner does not give a nice blue flame, this may have several causes. Make sure the barbecue and the burner are clean of blockages, you can do this by blowing the burner clean. It could be that there is a cobweb or dust in the burner. Should you still not see a nice flame after blowing it clean, contact our customer service at: [email protected]
As long as the bottle/cartridge and the tap/connector look good, no rust on the bottle/cartridge or corrosion of the copper, it is good to use them
The main differences between these two cooking appliances are the burners and the Flame Failure Device:
- The 2 Cook 3 Turbo features two Turbo Burners, which deliver a stronger and more targeted heat output.
- The 2 Cook 3 Turbo is equipped with an additional safety measure known as a Flame Failure Device (FFD). This FFD ensures that the gas supply is automatically shut off if the flame goes out unexpectedly, ensuring safety for both indoor and outdoor use.
Every gas cylinder needs to be inspected every so often. The approval period is at least 10 years, although it is longer for some gas cylinders. You can usually find the re-inspection date on a ring under the gas tap or on a label.
Our gas barbecues will run from either Propane or Butane, or a mixture of them.
A gas barbecue runs on a gas bottle or gas cartridges, combined with a hose and pressure regulator. The type of gas hose and pressure regulator you need depends on your choice of gas bottle or cartridges.
The Safari Chef HP runs directly on a gas cartridge. This is simply screwed under the appliance. You can start barbecuing right away! Would you like to connect your HP to a gas bottle? Then you can use the Adapter Set HP to LP.
We are regularly asked how long the BBQ works on a gas cartridge, gas canister or a gas bottle. This depends on a number of things:
- The type of gas cartridge, gas can or gas bottle you use
- The type of BBQ you use; a large barbecue naturally consumes more gas than a small model because they often have a larger gas burner with a more powerful flame
- Weather conditions; cold weather consumes more gas than warm weather; you need more power (and thus gas) then
- The position of the gas tap; do you grill on full gas, medium or on the lowest setting
To give you an indication, the table below shows how long a barbecue works on average on a gas canister/gas cartridge or gas bottle.
| Safari Chef | Citi Chef 40 | Carri Chef | 2 Cook | |
| CADAC Gascartridge 500g | 4 hours | 3 hours | 2 hours | 3 hours |
| CADAC Trio Power Pak | 6 hours | 4,5 hours | 3 hours | 4 hours |
| CADAC Power Pak | 8 hours | 6 hours | 4 hours | 6 hours |
| Universal gasbottle 5kg | 40 hours | 23 hours | 20 hours | 31 hours |
